Τα βραβεία BAFTA έλαβαν χώρα στο Royal Festival Hall στο Λονδίνο της Αγγλίας την Κυριακή, 20 Φεβρουαρίου.
Η γερμανική ταινία «All Quiet on the Western Front» (Ουδέν νεότερο από το δυτικό μέτωπο) ήταν ο σαρωτικός νικητής της βραδιάς, κερδίζοντας επτά βραβεία, μεταξύ των οποίων αυτό της καλύτερης ταινίας και της καλύτερης σκηνοθεσίας.
«Νιώθουμε ευλογημένοι για τις τόσες πολλές υποψηφιότητες και η νίκη είναι απλά απίστευτη», είπε ο παραγωγός Malte Grunert.
Το «The Banshees of Inisherin» ευνοήθηκε επίσης στην εκδήλωση, αποσπώντας, μεταξύ άλλων, τα βραβεία β’ γυναικείου και αντρικού ρόλου, καθώς και το βραβείο για το καλύτερο πρωτότυπο σενάριο.
Το «Everything Everywhere All At Once», ένα από τα φαβορί για τα Όσκαρ που θα πραγματοποιηθούν σε έναν μήνα, δεν έτυχε ιδιαίτερης εκτίμησης στην τελετή των BAFTA. Κατάφερε να κερδίσει μόνο ένα βραβείο, για το καλύτερο μοντάζ.
Αναλυτικότερα, η γερμανική ταινία «All Quiet on the Western Front» ηγήθηκε της βραδιάς με 14 υποψηφιότητες. Ακολούθησαν οι ταινίες «The Banshees of Inisherin» και «Everything Everywhere All At Once» με 10 υποψηφιότητες η κάθε μία. Το biopic του “Elvis” με 9 υποψηφιότητες, έκλεισε την τριάδα των κορυφαίων διεκδικητών των βραβείων BAFTA. Μάλιστα, ο Austin Butler τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο Α ανδρικού ρόλου, ενώ η ταινία απέσπασε επίσης βραβεία για το καλύτερο casting, κουστούμια και μακιγιάζ.
Η Cate Blanchett κέρδισε το βραβείο Α΄ γυναικείου ρόλου για την ταινία TÁR, ενώ η Emma Mackey ήταν το Ανερχόμενο Αστέρι του 2022.
